I can upload images with pure php2, but how can I upload pdfs, or other non image documents?Or, how do I browse the server to choose a previously uploaded pdf?

As i replied you in the other topic - in the current version of the editor it is not possible to upload PDFs.
You will be notified as soon as the file browser add-on is released.
