Adobe offers further details on Intel plans
Adobe has confirmed that Creative Suite applications will, in the future, be compatible with the Intel-based Macs. While the company did not give specific release dates, they did offer more details on their newest Mac OS X beta release and its other applications, including those recently purchased from Macromedia.
In addition to the Creative Suite, which includes Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive and Acrobat, Adobe said they were currently working on or evaluating transition plans for After Effects and InCopy, Dreamweaver, Flash Professional, Flash Basic, Fireworks, Contribute and other applications.
Running current Adobe applications on Intel Macs
Apple has included Rosetta, a dynamic translation layer built into Mac OS X, to allow non-native applications to run on Intel machines. However some applications will see slower performance.
Adobe said they would continue to offer support for its products as usual, but noted that they may not be able to address installation or compatibility issues that arise on Intel Macs using Rosetta.
