Usability on these devices was our main objective when purchasing this extension.

Thanks in advance for your help with this matter.

Hi Shon,

Could you please update to the latest HTML5 Slideshow 1.01?

I updated this morning when DW launched up. But, it still is distorting the images, and not showing the fade in and out, on my iPad and iPhone...

I've actually gone ahead and moved it to our live site:

www.wh1.com

It looks fine in the desktop browsers. Just not on the iOS devices.

Thoughts...?

Hi Shon,

I still see the old version only. Have you reapplied the slideshow? See the update instructions at:

www.dmxzone.com/go?17708#History

Also for the ad block you have made with the slideshow you are using way too big images. Your images are wider than 1000 pixels while your ad block is very narrow.

of course you need wider images than you ad block width so they get the nice pan effect from Ken Burns - but this is way too much.

A good rule is to have your images like 20-30% bigger than the view area.

That will definitely help on the iPhone as older iPhones like 3G doesn't have very fancy hardware like the newest ones and the iPad.

George

D'oh! I feel stupid... I never actually downloaded the update. When I started the page this morning, it told me about the update, and then asked me to upload certain files, so I thought the download was automatic, or something. I'm now on v.1.0.1

I will go in and reduce all the files sizes, but, it'll be hard, because of that pan and zoom effect we're wanting.

That being said, the images are still distorted and don't show the fade between images, even after the update. Is that because of the large file sizes?

Hi Shon,

It looks very smooth now on my iPad - but indeed the fades are missing, so I will investigate and let you know.

George

The smoothness has never really been the issue... The images are distorted (squeezed in horizontally), as well. If you look at it on a desktop browser, you'll see the difference, and what I mean.

Of course, the fade is missing as well.

I really appreciate your help with this! It's very much appreciated!

Yes I noticed the distortion as well, that might be the root problem. So will check it our as well.

Thanks for reporting this. We will put full attention to it. We want perfect iPad / iPhone results of course

Hi Shon,

We have fixed the HTML5 Slideshow on the iPad/iPhone. There were indeed some calculation errors.

I've send you an update to test it, let me know if it is ok now. So we can release the update officially soon.

Greetings,
George
